GolfNow’s pricing looks simple on the surface: free for basic booking, $9.99/month for GolfPass+. The full cost picture is more complicated when you factor in what GolfPass+ does and doesn’t cover, plus the commission structure that inflates platform rates.

What the Free Tier Covers

The free tier gives you access to GolfNow’s full course network for searching and booking. Cancellation policies are set by individual courses. There are no credits, no cashback, and no membership benefits — just the ability to find and book a tee time.

For a golfer who books infrequently and always books far enough in advance to cancel standard tee times if needed, the free tier is adequate.

What GolfPass+ Adds

At $9.99/month, GolfPass+ adds three meaningful benefits: tee time credits (typically $10/mo applied to future bookings), cancellation protection on standard tee times, and access to NBC Sports’ golf video lesson library.

The credits partially offset the monthly fee if you book regularly. The video content adds value if you’re actively working on your game. The cancellation protection covers standard bookings — not DEAL Times.

The DEAL Time Problem

DEAL Times are discounted last-minute slots priced below standard rates. They exist because courses need certainty on filling those spots. The certainty comes from making the booking non-refundable.

Per TeeOff’s FAQ documentation (TeeOff is GolfNow’s NBC Sports sibling), DEAL Times are refundable only if cancelled 72 or more hours in advance. GolfPass+ does not change this. If you book a DEAL Time and cancel inside 72 hours — even as a paying GolfPass+ member — the fee is forfeited.

The Commission Markup

GolfNow charges courses 20–25% commission. Courses don’t absorb this passively. Many list rates on GolfNow above their pro shop walk-up price to recover the commission. The result: you may be paying more on GolfNow for the same tee time than you’d pay by calling the pro shop directly.

The Net Cost of GolfPass+

If GolfPass+ credits ($10/mo) offset the $9.99/mo subscription fee, the effective net cost is close to zero — assuming you use the credits every month. In practice, credits expire and don’t always apply to the tee times you want. Months where you don’t book, or can’t use the credit, the $9.99 is a pure cost.

Annual commitment math: $9.99 × 12 = $119.88/yr for GolfPass+. If you book 15+ rounds per year and use the credits and video content regularly, the subscription earns its cost. Occasional golfers often find they’re paying the fee for months where the credits go unused.
